Literature Text

It was a warm, sunny day in Camp Half-Blood. I was by Thalia's tree which held the Golden Fleece, with Peleus sleeping next to me. Annabeth had called me on her cell phone (Which was very dangerous, by the way.) and said she would be arriving at Camp Half-Blood soon. I told her I would be waiting here, and so, here I am. Waiting.
About five minutes passed, and then I saw a car pull up to the bottom of Half-Blood Hill. Annabeth stepped out, as beautiful as ever. Every time I saw her long blonde hair and grey, calm eyes my heart always skipped a beat.
She saw me waiting at the top of the hill and started running towards me.
"Percy!"
I extended my arms and she ran into them, and we just kind of stayed that way for a while. My cheeks felt warm. I was probably blushing.
"There you are, Seaweed Brain." she said with a smirk on her face.
"Yup. Here I am, Wise Girl."
We both smiled and I pulled her close to me and kissed her gently on the lips.
As we pulled apart, she asked, "So what did I miss? Did you kill any more Titans while I was away?"
I laughed lightly. "Nah, I couldn't do that without you. Oh you did miss one thing, though."
"Whats that?" She asked.
"Me."
"Oh, you know I did, Seaweed Brain." She said, with a sparkle in her eyes.
We both kinda just stood there for a while, staring into each other's eyes. Then I said, "Well, we better get going. It's getting kinda dark."
"Oh.. Uhm, yeah." She actually seemed kind of sad.
"Whats wrong?" I asked, because normally the Daughter of Athena wasn't just sitting there quietly. Most of the time she was annoying me about her architecture.
She looked down at her feet. "Oh nothing.. I just thought, maybe.. Uhm, nevermind. I'm gonna go put my things in the cabin, I'l catch you later." And she ran off.
Uhm, what just happened? I thought. What did I do? I shrugged it off for now, and went down to my cabin to wash up before dinner.
As I was brushing my black hair, I realized my bangs were in my eyes now. I needed a haircut. But did they even have a barber-shop in Camp...? I got on some fresh clothes, put on some deoderant, and headed out the door. As I was walking toward the dining pavilion, a memory hit me so hard I almost fell backwards physically.
Last summer. Annabeth and I were thrown into the lake, and we had stayed down their in and air bubble and had made out for almost an hour. Is that why she was sad? Did she think we were a couple? I mean, I sure would if someone just kissed me randomly on a hill for no reason like that. I'l just ask her about it after dinner, I thought.
I sat down at the Poseidon table in the dining pavilion with my half-brother, Tyson. As usual, every few seconds I would look up and stare at Annabeth for a few seconds, then look down awkwardly. This had been happening ever since last summer, after the whole water incedent. After dinner, I caught Annabeth going back to her cabin.
"Hey, Annabeth, wait up." I said, out of breath after trying to catch her. She was a fast walker.
"Oh, hey Percy. Whats up?" She said, like she hadn't been sad a while before.
"Uhm... I need to talk to you about last summer." I said, kind of embarrassed.
She smiled. I loved when her eyes sparkled like that. "Oh? Sure, whats wrong?"
We sat down on a bench. The same bench where we first kissed last summer. "Okay.. Uhh.. did you feel... a spark? Last summer, When we kissed I mean. Do you think that theres every a chance that we could.. You know.."
She looked out onto the horizon with the smile still on her face. For a while. There was silence. Then she said, "Go out?"
"Erm.. Yeah."
"Yes."
"Yes..? Uh, yes what?"
"Yes, I did feel a spark. I was sad at the top of the hill today whenever you said we should leave... because I wanted to stay up there with you, away from everybody else." she said, blushing and looking at her feet.
I smiled. It felt like my heart just did a backflip. I tried to say something like "Oh, okay," And play it cool, but what came out of my mouth sounded more like "Uhm uhh kaah". She smiled. "You know, your not that smooth for someone who saved the world."
"Hey." I said, trying to look angry. Obviously it didn't work.
She laughed and grabbed my hand, then pulled me closer to her. Un-surprisingly, I was okay with that. This time, it was her who made the move. She brought her head close to mine, and closed her eyes. I brought my head forward a touch, and intertwined my tongue around hers. It was happening again. I pulled away and for a second, Annabeth looked nervous, like she thought she'd done something wrong. Then I blushed, and the "Uhm uhh kaah" noise came out again. She laughed, and I blushed. But then I started laughing too, and we sat there in silence again.
"Well, I better get going, it's getting dark." She winked, mocking me.
"No need for that, Percy is here!" I smiled.
For a second she had a confused look on her face, and then I scooped her up, bridal style, and carried her towards the Athena cabin.
As I put her down on the porch of her cabin, she kissed me gently on the lips. "Thanks," she said, smiling with that beautiful sparkle in her eyes.
"No problem."
As she went inside, and I was alone on the porch of the Athena cabin in the silver moon light, I thought to myself: Maybe this summer won't be so bad after all.
